Meet the Team
With over 24 years in the Tourism Industry in Europe and Australia, Jude understands what it takes to make the perfect holiday and brings her experience to The Jollie Biker and to the Alps2Ocean cycle trail. Her passion for travel is what brought her to New Zealand 20 years ago and it was then that she fell in love with the people and the country and knew that one day it would be the place she would call home.
Jude discovered the excitement of touring on a bicycle with her first ride in China over ten years ago, where she and her friends quickly discovered it is the best and only way to truly experience the beauty and heart of a country. Some of the countries she has experienced by bike are Bhutan, Cuba, Chile, Cambodia, Vietnam as well as many places in Europe. And of course, New Zealand’s South Island, without question the most stunning of all her rides.
Jude’s years of experience in tourism, delivering dreams and unforgettable holidays, where every detail is taken care of, is what will ensure your ride with The Jollie Biker on the Alps2Ocean cycle trail is one to remember.
Shell and Stu Paterson
Shell and Stu Paterson, founded The Jollie Biker in 2014 with long-time friends Gaynor and Bruce Sim, their passion is to help provide both domestic and international travellers within New Zealand, a wonderful adventure, taking in some of the most magical sights that the South Island of New Zealand has to offer.
Having lived in Twizel since 2007, Shell and Stu Paterson are as local as they come. They know the area well and are equally well known by its residents.
Growing up in the South Canterbury lowlands, a background in sheep and arable farming led to an opportunity to establish a retail and hospitality business in an old woolshed on their farm. After 15 years, the successful Shearers Quarters Cafe & Giftshop introduced a “second cousin” establishment in the High Country town of Twizel, and The Musterer’s Hut Cafe is still operating today. With the development of the Alps2Ocean cycle trail Shell and Stu decided it was time for a change, selling the Musterer’s Hut café and pursuing their dream of launching The Jollie Biker. The passion behind this cycle tour company comes from a genuine desire to share this piece of paradise with the rest of the world – and the Patersons believe there’s no better way to soak it all up than on two wheels.
Gaynor and Bruce Sim
Gaynor and Bruce Sim have lived in Twizel since 2008, lured here by the magnificent scenery, tranquillity and work opportunity. Locals and visitors alike refer to Twizel as “the place to be”, and for Gaynor and Bruce that says it all.
Their colourful background includes carpentry, industry management, marketing, hospitality and they both have a double degree in raising children. Leisure time for the couple involves biking, fishing, spending time with family and travel.
Enthusiastic and proud team members of The Jollie Biker. It is truly their pleasure to showcase the amazing countryside and Alps2ocean cycle trail to all The Jollie Bikers.
